At Food to the Rescue (FTTR), our mission is simple but powerful: to make sure no child in our community ever has to worry about where their next meal will come from.

In Middle Tennessee, 1 in 5 young children rely on free or reduced-price school lunches. But what happens when schools close for seasonal breaks? That’s where Food to the Rescue steps in.

During the two-month summer break—and again before fall, winter, and spring breaks—our dedicated volunteers pack and deliver nutritious food boxes six times a year to children who would otherwise go hungry. Partnering with local churches, businesses, and volunteers, FTTR now serves children throughout Putnam, Overton, and Jackson Counties, with hopes to reach even more communities in the future.

When we began in June 2017, we delivered food to just 8 children. Today, we’re feeding over 1,100 children each year—growth made possible by the generosity of people like you.

We are a 100% volunteer-run organization with $0 in payroll, meaning every dollar donated goes directly toward purchasing and packaging food for local children. With food costs continuing to rise and more families in need, your support is more vital than ever.

Each food box costs $25 to provide and contains around 22 meals of easy-to-open, high-protein foods, plus fresh fruit and bread. Thanks to your support, we’re able to deliver over 132,000 meals each year.
